Member Profile: My academic background is in business administration and economics. I received the degree of a Diplom-Ökonom from Bochum University in Germany.

Following on from that, I wrote a doctoral thesis in law about the history of German and Australian unfair competition law. During my postgraduate studies, I was a visiting fellow at the University of Sydney Law School and a research fellow at the University of Bonn, Germany. I received my Dr. iur., summa cum laude, from Bochum University.

In my think tank work I have dealt extensively with housing, transport, urban regeneration and infrastructure questions. Some of my proposals (such as the British Office for Budget Responsibilty or giving councils better incentives for development) have been implemented by government.
