Brief Business Profile: Admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria in March 1973 Tony established his own legal practice 3 months later opening 2 offices in the Eastern suburbs. This grew to a five office network until he consolidated the practice in Melbourne in the 1980’s.
As well as being involved in a number of business ventures in Australia and overseas he continued to conduct a diverse legal practice acting for a wide range of clients which has included foreign government controlled corporations.
As a sole practitioner he has conducted a number of high profile and long running court cases including a case on behalf of a property syndicate in the Federal Court which ran for 94 days. This litigation was successful both at first instance and on appeal.
Tony now concentrates his area of legal practice in the area of estate and succession planning. This is because he believes that his own personal experiences and that gained as a lawyer assists him in advising clients in the current economic climate where financial and personal affairs are becoming increasingly more complex. This in part due to the increasing number of “blended” families and also because of the need to properly deal with assets which, whilst controlled by the will maker during their lifetime, do not become part of there estate upon their death. These include (but are not limited to) superannuation entitlements and beneficial entitlements which are “expectancies” under family trust structures.
